Salam everyone. Welcome to Muslim Monday which today happens to be my turn to host MM.
The topic i pick for MM this week is:
What is it about hajj (islamic pilgrimage) that has always been making u wondering as to how it would feel when you perform, see, feel, or touch it? You can pick any kind of activity during the pilgrimage. It could the ritual, atmosphere or things that related to pilgrimage. And after picking one (or more than 1, be my guest..), please tell us the reason why you picked it(them) in the first place. And blog about it on your own page. Then please do come back to this site and let everybody read your contribution by leaving the link to your blog where you put your writting. Inshaallah we may benefit good things from it.

My contribution
It’s a tough job to pick which one..since i’ve been always wondering and dreaming to go for hajj..
Though, i get marveled easily everytime i see the tawaf ritual (circumambulating).
It’s
like a roaring river circling around a stone, Kaaba is surrounded by a
crowd of highly excited people. Kaaba is becoming the central of the
universe, while the whitey crowd surrounds it is becoming the particles
traveling around the the center of universe..mashaallah, such a view..
The reason as to why i picked this ritual is out of the significance of tawaf. During tawaf, Kaaba symbolizes the constancy and eternity of Allah.. and the moving circle (the people circling the kaaba with the same pattern) represents the continuous activity and transition of His creatures.
There’s a very deep explanation made by Dr Ali Shariati in his book called “Hajj” regarding tawaf(cirumambulating). He mention there that,
CONSTANCY + MOVEMENT + DISCIPLINE = CIRCUMAMBULATING
This is an equation of the whole world. It is an example of a system based on the idea of monotheism which encompasses the orientation of a particle (man). Allah is the center of existence; He is the focus of this ephemeral world. In contrast, you are a moving particle changing your position from what you are to what you ought to be. Yet in all positions and during all times, maintain a constant distance with "Kaaba" or with Allah! The distance depends upon the path that you have chosen in this system.
You do not touch Kaaba nor do your stop there. Everyone encircles Kaaba collectively. The movement is as one unit, one group of people. There is no individual identification, that is, as being a man or woman, nor black or white! It is the transformation of one person into the totality of a "people". All of the "I's" join and become a "We", establishing the "Umma" with the aim of approaching Allah.
Again, why i pick this ritual, for I wonder how it would feel to be among the united ummah at the same time and same place, together approaching the same thing..solely run to Allah..
Inshaallah, with His mercy, i’ll be there someday :)
