silly hat | for everyone |
zahra
has so many toy balls. they come in many sizes. she's been collecting
balls ever since she was an infant. her therapist said to me once that
some autistics commonly are developing particular liking of certain
shape. and in zahra's case, it might be the round shape. they told me to
use this special hobby as one of the way to get in to her world.

so,
i started "annoying" her by asking her to play toy balls with me.
basket ball, tennis ball, beach ball..or any kind of ball. i used the
balls to train her gross motor skill, throwing, catching.. alhamdulillah
it worked. and sometimes i take advantage from this hobby by using the
ball as a reward. if she finish putting the buttons of a clothe
together, we can play the throwing and catching ball as she likes. sort
of worked :)
at
the moment i'm thinking about enrolling her in a basket ball
club..maybe one that can facilitate kids with special needs. because i
see her enjoys dribling basket ball..only her hands dont seem to be
strong enough to throw it to the target(into the hanging basket). but i
believe, it's possible for her to do it through a trainning. only the
coach should be caring enough and determined to train her. inshaallah,
i'll find one..
among
those balls we've got in the house, there's one which has been broken
since long. i tried to throw it away, but zahra somehow put it back to
her toys box. lol. i think she'd made connection already with that
ball..lol. just so you know, the condition of the ball was quite
terribly poor..not realy nice to look at. a very very ugly looking
ball..though zahra still loved it somehow..lol
2
days ago, i convinced her that she can make this ball cooler..she
finally agreed. then i grabbed our handcrafting tools..origami papers,
scissor, glue and of course our beloved ugly ball.. :D
and we finally could make something that we can say, almost similar to a hat..hehe...yeah, at least we've tried... lol
