between poem and one particular autistic's behaviour

for everyone
i just realised something..
several days ago, i read a poem. a beutiful one. with lovely words and use kind of fancy grammar. i needed to focus on it to grasp the real idea. and many times, when i tried to concentrate, unconcsiously, i closed my eyes. because, by closing my eyes, i can lessen some inputs i might get while opening my eyes. thus, it will help me to concentrate.

all of sudden, i remember that, this behaviour also shown by autistics individuals, including my kid. they often avoiding to look in the eyes of the person who talks to them. or simply closing their eyes. i think it's their way to concentrate, to digest the information coming into their brain by lessening other inputs that potentially distract their focus. it's still my theory. but it sounds make sense to me.

i think from now on, i should be more paying attention and try to be more sensitive when my kid shows this behaviour.
